This site is meant to serve as a personal fansite for the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series. I'll be posting my thoughts on the latest news, general stuff I like about the series, and some more analysis pieces on the evolution of the series.
This design of this site, baffling alignment and all, is a close recreation of Kiryu's revelations blog from Yakuza 4 with some minor changes to fit my needs. When making it I was confused at some of the inconsistant misalignment of the content of the sidebars; Why is everything weirdly off-center? My theory is it had to be stretched out since the English Translation doesn't fit neatly in. You can see this plenty of times in the series- For example, in Yakuza 0's Cabaret minigame, much of the text during the game proper is squished and stretched just to fit the box. Unfortunately I don't have a JP copy of Yakuza 4, so I am unable to find out at this time.
The Yakuza series (known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku) is a beat'em-up/Action-Adventure series that takes place in modern-day Japan.
The first follows the story of Kazuma Kiryu, an up-and-coming Yakuza on his way to start his own family, takes the fall for his childhood friend, Akira Nishikiyama, when the latter murders his patriarch. 10 years in the joint later and he returns to see things have changed. Now, he must uncover what happened to Nishiki, and how a little girl is tied to a plot involving a missing 10 billion yen.
It's mainly known for it's silly side activities though, such as slot car racing, or karaoke! One of the cool draws of the series is the games are chock-full of various activities and side stories. Each game usually has its own unique minigame that provides a good break from the dramatic main plot.
