Anyway, here's what I've been working on right now:

A game!?!?!? (still!?!?)

I ended up super frustrated at making a simple list of items you acquired, so I took a break and came back to it. Honestly, I wasn't super happy with how it's turning out in its current state.

For example, damage was originally calculated based on the player's ATK stat with a flat increase with whichever weapon you had equipped. This number would then be diminished by the monster's DEF stat- twice as much if they decided to defend! It didn't make for very interesting combat because once you made a single attack, you knew exactly how much damage you were going to do and so you could spam attack or run. In its place, I chose calculate damage based on a range, similar to rolling dice in Dungeons and Dragons:

dmg = (Math.floor(Math.random() * weaponequipped.diemax ) * weaponequipped.diecount);

"diemax" is the highest number the die can reach, and "diecount" is the multiplier. From now one, every weapon is going to have these two stats instead of a simple "atkincrease". In the future, I can still mess with these stats further with additional variables, like how much money you have or how many times the player ran from a monster.

Speaking of the player, I found out how to add your name! At the beginning of the game, it'll ask you for your name and your stats. For the longest time I was stumped at how to do these, but in reality it's pretty simple. Maybe I should start applying myself more?

What I plan to do next - Continue to revamp the combat system. Another random element I'm going to add is a chance to miss!



Current plans for this site:

  • Add more stuff. Going to be real with you, it's pretty barren here- There's a lot of blank green space here. Nobody likes looking at blank green spaces! Unless they like the color green... Point is, this is a hub for my creative pursuits and adventures. Over time, this barren field of green will evolve into a wonderful garden of things to read and see!
  • Add a shitload of images. Not so much that I use up my free space, but I want to put some fun, fitting images of me all over the place so there's more than just boring walls of text everywhere.
  • Add lots of cool secrets. I will not going into detail, but I want to add some random stuff you can click on or hover over, and it will take you to some unknown part of the site. By the way, have you clicked on the guy in the 404 error screen yet?
  • Add a game. Do any of you remember when point-and-click adventure games were a thing? I mean I'm sure they still are, but they're not as cool as they were back in the day. Everybody has either a console or Steam, why would anyone want to click on stuff? Anyway, I want to make some fun little games. Nothing super big, mostly play with HTML imagemaps and stuff to create a fun and compelling narrative.

Current Roadmap:

  • Add shrines for each game I want
  • MORE IMAGES
  • Make a game
  • Actually make an effort to make the site more accessible and mobile-friendly.

  • Add more to the 'About Page' - Like a Portfolio of stuff I did
